These two lovebirds, the location, their outfits, I just love everything about these photos! They were beaming the entire session and made my job so easy! The hardest part was choosing which ones to feature because I loved them all!
Thank you for spending your evening with me! I hope you guys had as much fun as I did. We can't wait to celebrate your wedding!
]]>
This summer, as I was transitioning from our time living in Korea back to the United States, I was able to spend a few fantastic weeks at home with family. I had a great time reconnecting with the people I had missed so much and eating all of my favorite foods that weren't available during the year we were overseas! I also had the opportunity to photograph this gorgeous 2017 senior. Spoiler alert... she also happens to be my cousin!
Angelina, I am in love with all of the images from your session! I had such a difficult time choosing my favorites for this blog post. I am so glad that our timing worked out and I could take your senior photos for you. If you didn't think I was crazy already, I'm sure my photo taking shenanigans probably made you think otherwise. Thanks for being a good sport. You are a beauty and I hope you enjoy every moment of your senior year!

]]>Aj's session was more lifestyle, than posed, and he was loving being in his momma's arms. We incorporated some special props: a handmade hat and blanket from his Aunt, a special onesie from his grandma, and the family quilt. Congratulations on the sweet little addition of AJ to your family! I'm so glad that I get to see him so often. Thank you for sharing your afternoon with me and allowing me to capture this special moment in time for you!
These two are two of our dearest friends. Over the years we have gone on some awesome adventures, stayed up a little too late playing board games, and eaten a ton of great food together. I was thrilled to find out when we were moving overseas that they would be there too! It makes it a little easier to be so far from home when you have friends that are like family! Shortly after I found out we'd both be living in the same place, I found out they were expecting and they wanted me to photos for them!!! I love maternity sessions, I love sweet little babies and I love these two and can't wait to meet their newest addition, so needless to say I have been pretty excited the past couple of months waiting for these sessions! :)
Momma to be and I did some scouting before the session and found a fabulous spot. There is a lake close to where we are living and visiting there often makes me feel like I'm taking a trip back to the lake by my parents house in Pennsylvania. It was the first stop on our scouting session and we didn't have to look too far. We had the one spot as a potential, but then we found a little path that led up the hill that would work perfect. It was such a great afternoon! Thank you for allowing me to capture this moment for you! I'm excited to meet baby so so soon!

]]>Korea is a beautiful beautiful country. I am really enjoying where we live because it is quieter and not in the middle of the hubbub you find in a busy city. It also doesn't take long to get to amazing locations like this one.
We went hiking to Jiksopokpo (Jikso Waterfall) during the Chuseok Holiday weekend. Chuseok is one of Korea's biggest national holidays and often considered the most important holiday. During this time, families gather together to celebrate the year's harvest and to honor their family members and ancestors that have passed away. I was able to get a better glimpse of this special holiday through the descriptions from the adults I have been teaching. One of the girls said she would be spending all day Saturday, from 8am until 9pm cooking food for the celebration. Then, at midnight they would set up the memorial table and celebrate and eat all of the traditional foods that were made. On Sunday, they would hike to the burial places of their loved ones to pay their respects. Since her family is in town she didn't travel. Another student was going to be driving up to Seoul to spend time with family there. Most families end up traveling and because of that, bus and train tickets sell out early and the roadways are packed with travelers.
Since we stayed close to where we live, we missed out on the traffic, but there were a number of people out hiking the same day as us. On our way to the waterfall we passed by two temples. The first one was closed, but the second one was open and had music playing. There were slabs outside the temple that people were using chalk to write on. Silsangsa was the name of one of the temples.
As we continued our walk we passed by colorful flowers, rice fields, a lake and some trees that started to change colors. Unfortunately, it hadn't rained for a little and the waterfall was dry. We will have to go back another time, maybe once the leaves have changed some more, to see if the waterfall is flowing.
We walked by on the way to the falls, but investigated some more on our way back.
No water in the waterfall.

]]>This past weekend we took a trip up to Itaewon, which is located in Seoul. We took a bus and then two subways to get to our destination. We stayed at a hotel in downtown Itaewon and it allowed us instant access to the number of coffeeshops, restaurants, and boutiques. It was very American like, except for the toilet. The toilet had a bade and lots of interesting buttons to press. Luckily they had English translations so I didn't get any unexpected surprises! We started our morning with a walk through the streets of Itaewon and stopped at a place called Coffeesmith for coffee. I think the main reason we stopped was because it had Smith in the title… and anything with the name Smith has to be pretty awesome! For lunch we ate at Vatos Urban Tacos A friend, who also has to find gluten free places to eat, had recommended it and let me just say… it was AMAZING!
Best Shampoo Ever!!! I don't know what is in this stuff, but my hair has been terrible since we've arrived and I had my first fabulous hair day after using these! Plus, I smelled extra great from all that Rosemary and Mint!
View from our window, Seoul Tower. We will have to visit here on another trip.
Whatever restaurant they are lined up for must be fabulous! Maybe we'll check it out on a future trip!
Hubby said that his iced caramel yumminess put Starbucks' to shame!
Pretty amazing place! I think we will be coming back here again!

]]>Our adventures this weekend brought us to the oldest bakery in Korea, Lee Sung Dang. It opened in 1945 and has stayed in the same location! People line up on the street for two specific types of bread that they make here. Danpatppang is a bread filled with red bean paste and yachaeppang is a vegetable bread. We weren't going to try the specialty breads today, but wanted to purchase other sweets and treats so we were able to walk in a separate entrance and skip the line. Hubby thought he purchased a plain sweet roll and was surprised to find that it was rather heavy. Inside was filled with a berry filling. I found something that I thought was made out of rice. It had a bean paste filling and tasted amazing! We will be back Lee Sung Dang bakery for some more of your delicious treats. (Preferably on a weekday though, when the line isn't out the door and around the corner!)
Right now the exchange rate is pretty close to 1,100 won = $1.00. These little white pastries above looked similar to the ones I ate and based on the exchange rate would end up being a little over a dollar each.
After a 28ish hour travel day we arrived at our new home in Korea. We spent the first day cleaning and getting situated in our living space and trying to sleep. Our second day we went out on the town! One of our good friends here took us on a tour of the city close by and a restaurant he enjoys.
Dinner for someone!
Our first stop was dinner at a place called Oven Baked Chicken. We thought this might be a good place to go with some potential food options for me.
They brought out some pickles, crunchy snacks, and pickled beets (I think). I couldn't even bring myself to try a beet because of the way they smelled, but the pickles were good. I will have to become a little more brave over this next year!
The boys started off with this amazing dish cheesiness with pumpkin hidden underneath.
Then, our main dish came out! (Can you see the empty pumpkin cheesiness all gone in the background?) We had baked chicken with onions and tomatoes.
After our dinner we walked over to the Lotte Mart, which is similar to a Walmart. There were five levels. The first level had the groceries, the second level was a Toys R Us and had a section for home appliances, the third level was clothing and outdoor equipment, the fourth level had a restaurant, a spa and was connected to the parking garage and we didn't venture up to the 5th level. We were tired, so we didn't stay long. We rode the escalator up to check out all of the floors and in the end only bought some bananas because I was overwhelmed. When our car arrives we will have to make another trip on a weekday when it's not so busy!

One of my favorite photos from our session is when she is looking at her momma off to the side with a little smirk on her face. Charleston is such a happy little girl and did an amazing job! She was so amazing that we were able to squeeze in 3 outfit changes!!! Thank you for spending your evening with me and enjoy your preview!

Jessica is another fabulous senior that I am having a hard time believing is actually a senior! The last time I saw her was in the halls of Sonoran Heights, getting ready to head to after school practices. It is crazy how time flies! We had a lovely evening with beautiful lighting, super cute outfits and she absolutely rocked her session!
You are beautiful Jessica! I hope you savor the last few weeks as a senior! Thank you for spending your evening with me!
I love this family! As I've been sitting trying to write this post, I can't seem to find the right words to encompass how much they mean to me. I've been able to watch as they went from friends, to dating, to husband and wife, to bringing home their first little guy and then to a family of 4! They have been and continue to be such an important part of my life! I am so thankful for the time we've been able to spend together as we've been stationed back in Arizona.
We had a fabulous afternoon adventuring in the "woods" of Wickenburg taking family photos! It made me laugh to hear how pumped their oldest was for picture day with Nay Nay. He had been talking about it all morning! We had fun digging in the sand, looking for sticks, splashing in puddles, and finding some of the most ridiculously dreamy light that I've seen in Arizona!!! Make sure you look closely as some of the last images to see if you can spot the awesome Lego creations and the debut of Wolfey. :)
Thank you for asking me to capture this moment for you!!! I've loved being back in AZ, living just down the street, and being able to watch your adorable boys grow up, and not just hear about it over the phone! I know that no matter how far away we may end up living because of the amazing adventures life brings us on, I'll always have you as a home away from home! Love you guys!
Meet Adriane!
Fellow photographer, fabulous friend, lots of fun! I've known Adriane for a looooong time... 12+ years. We worked together before college, worked together during college, and roomed together for her senior year of college. One of the reasons I moved out to AZ was because of her encouraging e-mails filled with school district job links and applications attached to them!
I'll get to gush more about Adriane and her awesome family when I post their family session, but first I wanted to share a few of my favorite headshots from the end of our session and introduce you to the gal behind the camera at Art Photography. Take a minute to check out the beautiful images she captures on her website and Facebook page.

Adriane, there are reasons why God places people in our lives and I am so thankful for you, your friendship, and our never ending conversations about our photography dreams!
Lexi, I can't believe you are a senior!!! Throughout your session you would say or do something and I'd see glimpses of you as a little kiddo running around the halls of Sonoran Heights. Then I would take a picture and see the beauty you've become, on the outside and in. You have such a kind heart and your smile and laughter are contagious. I had a blast spending my evening with you and capturing these moments! Enjoy your time as you finish up your senior year!

]]>This precious little one just celebrated her first birthday!!! (I'm just a little.... erm... behind on blogging....) She was a dream to photograph and oh so sweet and snuggly! And look at those lashes and lips!!! We used the studio lighting for her session and looking back on the photos a year later, I am still so proud of how they turned out!!! She looks so lovely in lavender and her mom brought along some special items to include in her session, like a special handmade blanket and items from her room. We did most of her solo photos first and then big sister arrived after school! She was so sweet with Baby "L"! Thank you for asking me to capture this moment in time for you! She is precious!

They are so sweet and snuggly and Baby C was just so perfect! I also love getting to meet new families and seeing them interact with the newest addition to their family. Little Miss C is so very loved! She had a number of adorable outfits to choose from that were sent from family and represented some of her parents favorite places!

I just love the boldness of colors that my studio lights allow. She was awake for the first few shots, but slept like a dream for the rest of her session! ]]>What a gorgeous session! These two lovebirds + their fabulously coordinated outfits + this amazing location + dreamy backlighting = me in photographer bliss! When I had posted previews, I was able to reflect back on taking their photos 4 years ago when I was quite the newbie and creating this photography business was still a dream! ]]>We had a whirlwind mini-session and were able to capture some beautiful photos in the orchard! This session was one of my favorites not only because I adore this family and taking their pictures each year, but also from this session the Chicken Leg Squawk was created! What is this Chicken Leg Squawk you ask? Well… little one had just woken up from a nap and was still sleepy and less smiley than her usual self. I was trying to get her to laugh or smile by making all kinds of silly animal noises. Then big sister stepped in and joined in by making some awesome chicken sounds… but not only that she had a little leg flail arm motion that went along with these awesome sounds. I joined in on the silliness and have since incorporated it into many sessions with kiddos. Apparently it looks pretty ridiculous when I do this, (super cute when Big Sis does it) but it sure does get the kiddos to look, laugh, and try figure out what I am going to do next!
I just love how much this family loves each other. Big sister is always looking out for her little sis and adorning her with sweet little kisses and look at their sweet smiles when they are with their mom and dad! Thank you for allowing me to capture this moment and all of the fun dancing with your adorable family!

Their colors and outfits blended so perfectly. This year for photos there was a new addition to the family too! Do you see the little cutie? His name is Ike and he was a pro for the camera as well! He even sang for us! Thank you for spending your evening with me and letting me capture your beautiful family! As always, I had a blast!

I've met so many amazing families during our time in Arizona and this family is another one of them! We had a gorgeous morning for photos and in the background were the sounds of the Wild Western Festival. Hoots and hollers, gunshots, you know, the usual sounds to accompany a photo session! The greenery with the morning light shining through created beautiful lighting for these photos! On top of all of that, the kiddos were awesome! They had fun hunting for oranges and other fruit that had fallen on the ground and singing along to some Frozen songs. Thank you for spending your morning with me and allowing me to capture this moment for your family!
These two little ladies had the most GORGEOUS eyes!!! Oh my goodness! I was able to capture their cuteness this summer as we celebrated Baby "A's" newness and Big Sister turning 2! There was dancing, book reading, singing songs, a little bit of snoozing and a few little snacks for bribery.
Both of your girls are super sweet and I loved capturing this moment in time for you! Thank you for sharing your morning with me!

Time flies!!! I can't believe that this little cutie is already 1!!! She and her big sister came to visit and I was able to capture some sweet moments of both of them. There was some singing, some dancing, a little reading and even a break to watch Frozen! We tried to recreate some of those sweet kisses big sister gave when baby "E" was brand new, but she's a little lady on the move now! You can check out her newborn session here.
The birthday girl wasn't too excited about eating and getting messy with her cake, but she sure did a great job looking cute, pointing at it and trying to get her mommy and big sis to come over and check it out!

]]>My husband and I recently had the opportunity to spend a long weekend at the Navy Base in San Diego. There had been recent storms that caused a lot of beach erosion and a ton of seaweed to wash up on shore. Most of the beach looked like the picture above. The water was also filled with churning seaweed as the waves would roll onto the shore. It was quite the sight!
We had spent the day at another beach a little farther south down the coast, so when someone had asked if the seaweed was bad there my response was, eh not too bad. I had seen some seaweed floating in the water, but what I found on the shore by our hotel was pretty amazing.
The first night I searched through the seaweed with a friend that was there with us and we found some pretty cool treasures! Birds were everywhere picking through the seaweed for food. I didn't have my camera with me, but snapped a few pictures on her camera when we found a starfish and an octopus in pools of water within the seaweed. An octopus!!!! It was a tiny one, but... it was still an octopus!!!
I came back the next evening with my camera, as well as the following morning. There were so many gorgeous colors to see! I had a blast taking pictures of all of the beautiful colors. These are some of my favorites!
My handsome hubby and I enjoying the beach! (and way cooler than AZ weather!)

"We're going to the chapel and we're gonna get ma-a-aried" Do you know that song? Well it just seems to keep playing over and over again in my mind as I've been working on these photos!
I couldn't have asked for two more fabulous people to photograph for an engagement session and what's even better is that these two are family, my brother-in-law and soon to be sister-in-law!!! We are so excited about the adventure that they are about to embark on together and we were pretty pumped we could spend some time with them during a fun family weekend visit! Being in the military can be difficult sometimes, as you are often stationed away from family, but in this case, we are only a short 6 hours apart!
During our visit the boys did some golfing, the girls had a shopping day, we played lots of different card and board games and we made sure to set aside some time to photos. We explored downtown Phoenix and found a spectacular area filled with color and patterns. Check out the fabulous bird wall!
As the sun was setting, we drove back to the house and stopped at a field I've had my eye on for a few weeks. I had envisioned the field as a soft, grass blowing in the wind type of field.... I must not have looked too closely... It was more of a prickly, scratch your legs to pieces type field, but I am so glad we stopped. The moments we captured right before our evening light disappeared are some of my favorites.
Jon and Emily, your adventure is about to begin and we are so excited we get to be a part of it! We love you both so very much!!!

What an awesome family! I had the privilege to teach with this sweet momma during the past year and was thrilled when she asked if I would take photos of her family. We had an unusually cloudy day in March for their family session and it provided some great lighting! Their little 2 year old cutie loved his new tractor and was pretty excited to see the big tractors and farm equipment that were on the property we were visiting.
The morning started off with some concern that we should postpone the session because of possible rain. The rain luckily held off until the last 5 minutes of our session, but something that I hadn't anticipated was the wind. At different moments throughout the session it was blowing like crazy, but we were still able to capture some sweet moments. Thank you for spending your morning with me!

]]>This handsome fellow, my first 2015 senior of the season, just happens to also be my cousin! I can't believe he is old enough to be a senior. It seems like yesterday I was watching him destroy his first birthday cake as only a little one year old boy can!
This summer, while I was back visiting in Pennsylvania, we were able to squeeze in his senior session. I learned a lot from this session and realized how much I've learned about lighting living in Arizona. (I am a little obsessed with the amazing lighting in Pennsylvania as well as unique buildings and trees.) But the biggest take away from this session, and one I am still laughing to myself about is… when you are photographing a senior boy, don't ask him to put on a serious face and then laugh at him. :) I just couldn't help it though! It was almost instantaneous that I'd ask him to be serious and then I'd start cracking up. But at least it worked in my favor for some really genuine smiles and laughs!
Johnny, you are an awesome guy and I'm proud to call you family! Thanks for putting up with my shenanigans while we took pictures! Best of luck for your senior year. It will be over in a blink of an eye!

I had seen these pillars and the fabulous blue wall while I was out and about one day and had been itching to take photos by them. I'm glad that the girls liked this spot and were up for anything! I have so much at each of my senior sessions…. I hope you girls did too!

]]>Baby L was such a sweetie with those squeezable cheeks and little baby rolls! He also has an adorable sister who, with a little coaxing, gave him sweet kisses and an occasional pat on the head. :)
This was the first session that I used my new lighting for and I am absolutely in love with it! I am over the moon excited about the way the photos turned out and can't wait until I get to use my lighting again for another indoor session!
Mom had planned out beautiful coordinating outfits and found a super cute hat and diaper cover for the session. All of the colors she chose worked so well together and we were able to pick out blankets and a background that complimented. Have I mentioned how excited I am about this session!
Congratulations on the sweet little addition to your family! Thank you for spending your morning with me and allowing me to photograph your beautiful kiddos!
What's better than photographing a sweet little newborn? Well for me, it's photographing a sweet little newborn with a fabulous friend and fellow photographer! It was a bit of a busy time for both myself and my pal Adriane from ART Photography. We were able to take on this session together and I loved every minute of it!
We started off the session with Adriane getting set up and chatting with mom about some of the props and colors that we brought along with us while Big Sister and I went to the back yard to take a few photos since she had recently turned 3! We played for a little and when we came back in Baby K was ready for her debut!
Adriane captured a lot of the sibling photos and family photos and I captured a lot of those little baby details that you just don't want to miss! It was such a lovely afternoon working with this fabulous family. Congratulations again on your sweet little addition!

It has been amazing being able to watch their family grow and still be a part of their lives even after a move across the country and back!
We had a fabulous morning for photos, before the intense summer heat started to set in. The light just reflected from all of these gorgeous eyes! Some of my favorites were the moments captured between sweet older brother and his little sis.

I was so excited when Kelsea chose this location for her senior session! She was looking for a location that had rustic looking buildings and as you can see, it didn't disappoint. This lovely gal was such a fabulous model for my first official senior session!!! I don't think I can put into words how thrilled I am about how this session turned out! I just love everything about it! I couldn't just pick a few photos to share because I had too many favorites! We had a gorgeous evening, beautiful lighting and the colors were just amazing. There was a bit of unexpected wind, but Helayna rocked it! Helayna, enjoy the rest of your senior year. You are beautiful inside and out and I am so happy I was able to spend the evening getting to know you a little more and capturing this time for you!

It was a beautiful morning with great lighting, fabulous bright colors that made the photos pop, and two little cuties having a blast finding fruit in the orchard. I had such a fun session with this family! We followed peacocks, chased birds and giggled! The laughs of these two littles ones were contagious and so adorable. Thank you for spending your morning with me!

]]>The Hassayampa River Preserve is a favorite area of mine in Arizona! It's on the way to Wickenburg and every time I visit I feel like I am arriving back in Pennsylvania and the fun parks and lakes I'd frequent growing up. There are hiking trails, birds galore, and flowing water! (Which I find very exciting in the desert!) The colors are absolutely beautiful and there are so many places to explore.
I was invited to tag along with a friend and her two little cuties over my spring break. It was so much fun! I had a chance to bask in my love of nature photography as I chased after beautiful hummingbirds. I also was able to capture some sweet moments of the boys and their amazing mom! She's a photographer too! You should check out her work here! The boys had a blast exploring the area, rock climbing, and playing in the water. The cottonwood trees were dropping their seeds, so there was cottonwood floating everywhere like snow! Such an amazing morning!
Oh how lucky I've been to be able to snuggle and photograph all of these babies lately! Baby "L" was just full of sweetness and adorable smiles! She fought sleep for a little wanting to partake in all of the awake fun, but once she really fell into a deep sleep her cute little lips formed into the shape of a heart! So precious! Thank you for sharing your morning with me!
Baby "A" was an absolute dream to photograph and so so sweet! We had a mixture of both asleep and awake time and I was excited to be able to capture her beautiful eyes!!! The light just reflected from them! Also, aren't her little lips just the cutest!
I loved the quilt that we used towards the end of the session. The colors were so vibrant and Baby "A's" friends and family created the squares and it was sewn together by her crafty Aunt. This little cutie is as sweet as can be and so very loved! Thank you for spending your afternoon with me!
I can't help but smile when I look through these pictures! These cuties all celebrated their first birthday very close together and so their mama's, who are close friends, decided to have one big celebration! Each sweet one year old had a little area decorated just for them and a fun cake to dig into after the singing! What a fun morning and fabulous way to celebrate!
What a fabulous family! We had such a lovely evening with gorgeous lighting, a fun new location, a cool truck and lots of little kid giggles and dancing. It didn't take too much to get these sweet boys giggling and they have such an awesome big sister and parents who were all for dancing and joining in on the silliness to get even more smiles!
You could just tell that this family has fun together and the love between them shows! I had such a great time photographing your beautiful family! Thank you for sharing your evening with me!

I was inspired by another photographer that posted their sprinkle pictures on a forum I am a member of. This was so much fun and a great way to work on my close up photography for Week 5 of my 52 week challenge. I love my macro lens and the details it captures!!!
