The Streets of Itaewon l Korea Travel Photography

This past weekend we took a trip up to Itaewon, which is located in Seoul. We took a bus and then two subways to get to our destination. We stayed at a hotel in downtown Itaewon and it allowed us instant access to the number of coffeeshops, restaurants, and boutiques. It was very American like, except for the toilet. The toilet had a bade and lots of interesting buttons to press. Luckily they had English translations so I didn't get any unexpected surprises! We started our morning with a walk through the streets of Itaewon and stopped at a place called Coffeesmith for coffee. I think the main reason we stopped was because it had Smith in the title and anything with the name Smith has to be pretty awesome! For lunch we ate at Vatos Urban Tacos A friend, who also has to find gluten free places to eat, had recommended it and let me just say… it was AMAZING!

Best Shampoo Ever!!! I don't know what is in this stuff, but my hair has been terrible since we've arrived and I had my first fabulous hair day after using these! Plus, I smelled extra great from all that Rosemary and Mint!

View from our window, Seoul Tower. We will have to visit here on another trip.

Whatever restaurant they are lined up for must be fabulous! Maybe we'll check it out on a future trip!

Hubby said that his iced caramel yumminess put Starbucks' to shame!

Pretty amazing place! I think we will be coming back here again!

Lee Sung Dang Bakery l Korea Travel Photography

Our adventures this weekend brought us to the oldest bakery in Korea, Lee Sung Dang. It opened in 1945 and has stayed in the same location! People line up on the street for two specific types of bread that they make here. Danpatppang is a bread filled with red bean paste and yachaeppang is a vegetable bread. We weren't going to try the specialty breads today, but wanted to purchase other sweets and treats so we were able to walk in a separate entrance and skip the line. Hubby thought he purchased a plain sweet roll and was surprised to find that it was rather heavy. Inside was filled with a berry filling. I found something that I thought was made out of rice. It had a bean paste filling and tasted amazing! We will be back Lee Sung Dang bakery for some more of your delicious treats. (Preferably on a weekday though, when the line isn't out the door and around the corner!)

Right now the exchange rate is pretty close to 1,100 won = $1.00. These little white pastries above looked similar to the ones I ate and based on the exchange rate would end up being a little over a dollar each.

Our First Outing l Korea Travel Photography

August 04, 2015  •  Leave a Comment

After a 28ish hour travel day we arrived at our new home in Korea. We spent the first day cleaning and getting situated in our living space and trying to sleep. Our second day we went out on the town! One of our good friends here took us on a tour of the city close by and a restaurant he enjoys.

Dinner for someone!

Our first stop was dinner at a place called Oven Baked Chicken. We thought this might be a good place to go with some potential food options for me.

They brought out some pickles, crunchy snacks, and pickled beets (I think). I couldn't even bring myself to try a beet because of the way they smelled, but the pickles were good. I will have to become a little more brave over this next year!

The boys started off with this amazing dish cheesiness with pumpkin hidden underneath.

Then, our main dish came out! (Can you see the empty pumpkin cheesiness all gone in the background?) We had baked chicken with onions and tomatoes.

After our dinner we walked over to the Lotte Mart, which is similar to a Walmart. There were five levels. The first level had the groceries, the second level was a Toys R Us and had a section for home appliances, the third level was clothing and outdoor equipment, the fourth level had a restaurant, a spa and was connected to the parking garage and we didn't venture up to the 5th level. We were tired, so we didn't stay long. We rode the escalator up to check out all of the floors and in the end only bought some bananas because I was overwhelmed. When our car arrives we will have to make another trip on a weekday when it's not so busy!

I'm excited for our next adventure when we aren't so tired. Until next time!

This little cutie made his debut a few weeks early and in just enough time for his momma to get to the hospital! He has such smoochable cheeks, sweet little lips, two fabulous big siblings, and is joining a family full of love! I was so excited to meet this little guy and snuggle him a little between setups. Mom wanted to use blues for his session and I loved the way the images turned out, especially the ones with blue wraps and the wooden cradle. It was an extra special prop because it is a hand carved family heirloom. Thank you for inviting me into your home and allowing me to capture this special time for you!

You can check out images from the maternity session in the orchard here.

This little one is just as cute as can be! Look at that adorable smile of hers and that little tongue that kept sneaking into pictures! One of my favorite photos from our session is when she is looking at her momma off to the side with a little smirk on her face. Charleston is such a happy little girl and did an amazing job! She was so amazing that we were able to squeeze in 3 outfit changes!!! Thank you for spending your evening with me and enjoy your preview!
